Bust Breaks Out With Maiden Win

 

February 17, 2017 – New York-bred Bust was much the best on Friday, February 17. The filly, with Luis Reyes aboard, galloped home to win the first at Aqueduct in front-running fashion, breaking her maiden in the process.

Leaving the gate from the 3-hole, Bust took command and took the lead. She was followed closely by Causeway Cutie and Citizen by Day as she led the seven horse field through fractions of 24.64, 49.41, and 1:02.05. Charging down the stretch, Causeway Cutie began to close in, but could not get an edge in front of Bust, who held her off by a head. The final time for the six-furlong contest was

Bust is a four-year-old daughter of Bustin Stones and Simone’s Show (by Theatrical (IRE)) and was bred by Owen Kiernan. She was originally acquired for $10,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2014 Eastern Fall Yearling Sale and has made $35,221 in earnings from 9 starts – 1 first, 1 second and 3 thirds. Friday marked the fifth start for the filly under trainer Tom Morley since transferring to the stable back in late fall of 2016. It also marked her first victory since her career debut in July of 2016.
