Axelle Solares
Originally from France, Axelle Solares was born into racing thanks to her dad — a now a retired standardbred trainer. She graduated jockey school in 2008 and raced standardbreds until 2012. That same year, she started working with thoroughbreds at Chantilly Racecourse within the barn of trainer André Fabre and did so until January of 2013, when she moved to the US. Once stateside, she settled down in sunny Florida and worked as an exercise rider for fellow Frenchman and Multiple Graded Stakes-winning trainer Christophe Clement.
In December of 2014, after briefly returning home to France to sort out her papers, Axelle landed her very first assistant position, this time working in New York for trainer Jena Antonucci. The job turned out to be perfect as Antonucci really took her under her wing, helping with her English and introducing her to the right people at Belmont Park. Axelle then became assistant trainer to Jeremiah Englehart and spent four successful years (2015-2019) in the role.
After taking a short break to spend time with her family, she joined Tom Morley Racing as Assistant Trainer in June of 2020 — alongside her husband who has been an exercise rider for the barn since December of 2019. Axelle has contributed enormously to the Morley barn, looking after our horses and helping us attain great success in 2021. She has grown both professionally and personally in her time with us and hopes to continue her work for many seasons to come.
